Turnkey, defined

A complete, configured application for a specific business — with the workflows, roles, reports, and guardrails already in place. We install it, shape it to your operation, and hand you the keys.

What you actually get

You’re buying a working system, not a folder of code.

No blank canvas. No forty-page requirements doc. No six-month runway before you see value.

01

Choose your fit

Pick a solution and a licensing model. Fixed price, clear scope, no discovery-phase invoice just to hear a number.

02

We deploy it

Domain, SSL, hosting, branding, user accounts, and data import. Prefer to self-host? You get the same runbook we use.

03

You go live

Training, a launch checklist, and an optional Care Plan to keep the system healthy as your business changes.

Already have hosting or an IT provider? Self-deploy with the same runbook we use. Want it handled? Our setup service covers installation, branding, data import, and training.

Deployment options

Ownership, your call

Two ways to own your software. Both put you in control.

Buy the source and modify anything. Or license the product for less upfront and add features as you grow.

Lowest upfront

Licensed Software

From $179/month

Use the software as-is with updates included. Add specific features through a feature package when your business needs them.

  • Lower upfront cost
  • Updates and fixes included
  • No source-code modification
  • Feature packages available
  • Annual license, clear renewal terms
  • Optional setup service and Care Plan
Read the licensed software terms

Need something specific? Licensed customers can purchase feature packages for additions and integrations. Source customers can build it themselves or hire us. Either way, you are not stuck with a system that no longer fits.

Done-for-you deployment

Deployment, handled.

If you don’t want to touch a server, don’t. We take you from purchase to a working system — usually in 2–5 business days.

  • Hosting and SSL configuration
  • Install, configure, and secure the application
  • Branding, user roles, and permissions
  • Data import from your spreadsheets
  • Live training for your team

The honest math

What custom software usually costs.

You have three common paths. Here is the comparison we would want to see before writing a check.

Option Typical cost Time to launch What you own
Hire a full-stack developer $85,000–$130,000+ per year 3–6 months before the first version You carry payroll, benefits, and turnover risk
Custom agency build $40,000–$100,000+ 3–6 months Often licensed or handcuffed; changes are quoted separately
Per-seat SaaS $300–$1,500+ per month, forever Days to start Nothing — stop paying and you lose access

A $12,500 source license costs less than two months of a mid-level developer’s total compensation — and the code is yours. A licensed plan can start for less than a typical per-seat SaaS subscription. The right answer depends on how much control you want.

Ranges are illustrative estimates based on common market rates. They are not quotes or guarantees. Your needs and local market will differ.

Why Calcaware

Built by an engineer, not a reseller.

Calcaware is a small software studio led by an engineer with more than a decade of startup experience. The person who answers your email is the person who built and deployed the system.

You are not locked in

Source customers receive the code. Licensed customers get a clear exit path and data export. Nobody should have to rebuild their business because a vendor disappeared.

No per-seat tax

Grow your team without watching a user count. Source licenses do not charge per person, and licensed plans are priced for the business, not the headcount.

Deployed, not demoed

A working installation with your branding, users, and data — not a sandbox that expires in 14 days.

Built by an engineer

Calcaware is a software studio, not a reseller. It is led by an engineer with more than a decade of startup experience, and the person who answers your email is the person who built and deployed the system.

Qualifications

A decade of lead engineering behind every system.

Calcaware is led by Chris “Aaron” Burnette, who has spent more than ten years as a lead software engineer across multiple startups. That means production systems, real users, tight deadlines, and the maintenance that only shows up after launch — not prototypes or theory.

  • 10+ years as a lead software engineer
  • Multiple startups, from first release to scale
  • Full-stack: product, backend, data, and deployment
  • Direct accountability from first call to launch

Questions, answered

The things owners ask first.

What exactly is a turnkey solution?

A complete application built for a specific business, with the workflows, roles, reports, and guardrails already in place. You are not buying a blank framework or a requirements document. You are buying a working system that we configure, deploy, and hand over.

Do I need a developer to run it?

No. A source license is yours to modify if you want to, but it does not require a developer to operate. The setup service handles installation and configuration. If you self-host, our runbook is written for a technical administrator or IT provider.

What is the difference between the two licensing models?

A Source License gives you a copy of the code that you own and can modify without restriction. Licensed Software costs less upfront, is used as-is, and includes updates; you cannot modify the source, but you can purchase feature packages for specific additions.

Can I customize the software?

Yes. Source License customers can modify anything themselves or hire us. Licensed Software customers can purchase feature packages, which include scoping, implementation, testing, and deployment of an agreed change.

How long does deployment take?

Most configured installations go live in 2–5 business days after we receive access and data. Complex migrations, custom integrations, or unusual hosting requirements can take longer, and we will give you a firm window before work begins.

Where does the software run?

On your cloud account, your own server, or a managed host we configure for you. You keep control of your data and infrastructure. We do not force you onto a proprietary platform.

Is my data secure?

The applications use role-based access, audit logs, encrypted connections, and controlled data exports. Security is a shared responsibility: hosting, backups, policies, and staff access all matter. We help you configure a sensible baseline and document what you need to maintain.

What does support cost?

The optional Care Plan starts at $1,200 per year and covers updates, monitoring, backup checks, and support hours. It is designed for businesses that want a maintained system without hiring a developer. You can also self-support a source license.

Do you offer refunds?

Software licenses can be refunded within 14 days if the software has not been deployed or activated. Setup services can be cancelled for a full refund before work starts. See the refund policy for the full terms.

Can you build something that is not in the catalog?

Possibly. The catalog is the fastest and least expensive path, but we take on custom work when it fits. Tell us what you need and we will give you a straight answer, including if we are not the right fit.

Still weighing it up? Send us the details and we’ll give you a straight answer.
